In the context of the conflict between the Force’s light and dark sides, Luke Skywalker is a crucial character. He is the son of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala but is raised by Owen and Beru Lars – his aunt and uncle – on Tatooine. During his early years, Luke was consumed by the idea of pursuing adventures, which were far from a moisture farmer’s reality. He grew up completely unaware that the galaxy’s fate was linked to his destiny.

Luke’s entire life changed upon his encounter with R2-D2 and C-3PO – two droids. When he discovered his real lineage under Obi-Wan Kenobi’s tutelage, his journey of training as a Jedi began. He confronted the Galactic Empire’s menacing characteristics when destroying the Death Star and rescuing Princess Leia Organa.

Yet, he also constantly faced several challenges, particularly after he learned about his father being the Sith Lord Darth Vader since the pull of the dark side was certainly powerful. Two defining attributes were apparent throughout Luke’s journey: his innate goodness and his hopefulness. In fact, these characteristics were pertinent in redeeming Anakin Skywalker and pulling him away from the dark side.

Following the Empire’s fall, Luke undertook the responsibility of rebuilding the Jedi Order. His convictions were put to the test by various novel challenges, like the emergence of the First Order and his nephew’s fall (Ben Solo). However, Luke relied on resilience and hope to tackle every challenge and continue maintaining the Force’s balance.
