During the Republic’s final years, Obi-Wan Kenobi was a crucial member of the Jedi Council and a renowned Jedi Master. During the Clone Wars, he acted as a general. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn trained Obi-Wan, who demonstrated unwavering compliance toward the Jedi Code and incredible skills in defensive lightsaber combat. When Sith lord Darth Maul caused the death of Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan Kenobi was assigned the task of training Anakin Skywalker, who was believed to be the Chosen One. As a General during the Clone Wars, Kenobi guided the Republic forces in their battles against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
During various missions, Anakin fought alongside him, along with Ahsoka Tano – his apprentice. During these conflicts with the Separatists, the Republic recorded multiple victories. In particular, Obi-Wan’s specialty was his ability to fight against Sith lords, as was evident from his multiple encounters and battles with Asajj Ventress, Maul, Savage Opress, and Count Dooku. General Grievous, who was the Supreme Commander of the Separatists, was defeated by Master Kenobi during the Battle of Utapau. This put an end to the Clone War.
However, this was followed by the initiation of Order 66, which completely shook the Jedi. Several Jedi were executed by Clone Troopers and Anakin Skywalker, who was pulled into the dark side by Darth Sidious. This event ended the lives of several Jedi, although Masters Kenobi and Yoda came out unscathed. On Mustafar – a volcanic planet – Obi-Wan came face-to-face with Anakin, causing an epic duel. Their skills seemed to be on the same level until Darth Vader’s arrogance led to his defeat. However, Vader managed to survive this gruesome battle and continued to work to build the Emperor for several years after. Kenobi was substantially affected by this tragic battle, along with the clones’ betrayal following General Grievous’s defeat. When the Galactic Empire rose, Obi-Wan fled to Tatooine and took up a new alias – Ben Kenobi. On this planet, he took care of Luke Skywalker – Anakin’s son – hoping that eventually, the Jedi’s legacy could be redeemed.
Luke Skywalker relied heavily on the guidance of Master Kenobi to become a Jedi. He learned about the Force and began his journey by undertaking the responsibility of rescuing Princess Leia. On the Death Star, Ben is again placed in a position to duel with Vader. Here, the former sacrifices his life to save Luke, thereby becoming one with the Force. Thus, he could continue guiding Luke from the grave. In the galaxy, the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in their battles against the Empire cannot be overstated. Ultimately, his guidance enabled Luke to reunite his father with his good side while also effectively ending Emperor Palpetine’s rule.
