Darth Sidious is commonly known as Emperor Palpatine and he was the shadow that caused a large part of the turmoil that engulfed the galaxy. He is considered to be one of the most dangerous Sith Lords the galaxy has witnessed. He hailed from Naboo, a calm planet, and he was a dynamic senator. However, he had darker goals and leveraged tools such as political manipulation along with a comprehensive understanding of the Force to cause events that would eventually lead to the Clone Wars. Eventually, he became a Supreme Chancellor.

Palpatine managed to dictate the war by playing from both sides. To the larger public, he was a Chancellor since he managed to hide his true identity from the Jedi Order. Palpatine met Anakin Skywalker when he was just a Jedi Knight and managed to lure him towards the Force’s dark side. A battle between Mace Windu and Sidious was intertwined with the galaxy’s fate. Although the latter was disfigured, he won the battle. With Anakin on his side, he knew he was ready to seek more power within the galaxy.
These ambitions guided the implementation of Order 66, wherein the Jedi generals were betrayed by the Clone Troopers. On the other hand, an attack on the Jedi Temple was spearheaded by Anakin, who began to go by the name Darth Vader. Once the Order was largely wiped out, Palpatine stated that the Jedi were trying to overthrow the Republic by assassinating him. While addressing the Senate, he showcased his scars as proof. Then, he stated that the Republic would be restructured as the first Galactic Empire. He also crowned himself the Emperor.

Over the next 20 years, the galaxy was terrorized and destroyed by Sidious and the Imperial forces. He, however, continued to face opposition. Eventually, a rebellion would gradually brew within the Galactic Empire. The obsession that Palpatine had for power would cause him to confront various people throughout his reign.

Darth Vader, who was his apprentice, would eventually lead to his first-ever defeat. The former decided to sacrifice himself to save Luke Skywalker – his son. In this way, Anakin was redeemed and by becoming one with the Force, he continued to guide young Luke, who was on a mission to rebuild the Jedi Order. The demise of Sidious was restricted only to his body, as his spirit continued to live. He would go on to occupy a clone body and return about three decades later to reclaim his power. However, this time his granddaughter Rey would stop him. Luke and Leia Organa, along with Ben Solo (Anakin’s grandson) trained her. Rey destroyed Darth Sidious’ spirit by seeking the strength possessed by past Jedi.
