The birth name of Kanan Jarrus was Caleb Dume and he was among those who managed to survive the dark period that occurred when Order 66 was implemented. Caleb was Jedi Master Depa Billaba’s Padawan and the Clone Wars ended amidst immeasurable tragedy just as he was on the cusp of turning into a fully trained Jedi. He unfortunately witnessed the death of his master and was taken aback by the clone troopers and their decision to betray the Jedi Order. Despite escaping from them on that fateful day, he continued to carry the trauma he had sustained.

When Caleb went into hiding, he decided to change his name to Kanan Jarrus. In order to blend in and avoid the empire’s scrutiny, he decided to shed various teachings that the Jedi Order inculcated in him. Despite the promise he had demonstrated as a Jedi, these turn of events forced him to turn into a rogue. In order to survive, he began smuggling and engaging in mercenary missions.

Yet, the Force’s spark continued to dimly glow within him. His encounter with a Twi’lek pilot named Hera Syndulla changed his life yet again. The latter was renowned for his resistance against Imperial oppression.

Eventually, their partnership would lead to the establishment of the Ghost crew. This group was pivotal for the Rebel Alliance, specifically during its early days.
