In the history of Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn is remembered for his wisdom. He always relied on the Force’s guidance, even in instances when the Jedi Council’s decisions had to be questioned by him. The extremely enigmatic Count Dooku trained him. As such, the beliefs and methods of Qui-Gon stood out among the rest. Since he enjoyed a very deep connection with the Living Force, he was considered among its most ardent adherents.
When Qui-Gon was on a mission and was required to go to the planet Naboo, with Obi-Wan Kenobi (his Padawan), he encountered Anakin Skywalker – a very young slave on Tatooine, which was a desert world. He immediately discovered that the boy was connected deeply to the Force and was certain that according to the prophecy, Anakin was the Chosen One and it was his fate to ensure that balance is brought back to the Force. While the Jedi Council expressed its reservations, Qui-Gon passionately fought to facilitate the training of Anakin.
When the Naboo crisis erupted, Qui-Gon found himself face-to-face with Darth Maul, who was a Sith assassin. Despite fighting bravely, Qui-Gon passed away during this battle, but not before entrusting his Padawan Obi-Wan with the responsibility of training Anakin. However, his demise did not end his path. Instead, he managed to uncover the secrets underlying the Force in a realm that was beyond the physical world. Thus, he was among the first Jedi to become acquainted with the secrets of immortality and he would later disclose these mysteries to Yoda and Obi-Wan.
